Default The Hall of Monuments Question

New Player

Why are all guides out there so hard to understand? I get that I need to beat a campaign and do a quest to access EOTN. Then I'll get access to the five monuments and I have to do certain things to get points toward it.

Now that's where things get messy. All guides out there are separated into those five different parts, not really telling you like a step by step on what to do. For example, "Tame these three pets along the way" How am I supposed to know where they will be, how to tame them anyways.

It would be so much easier for me to have a walkthrough like. "Hey make your character on this faction, get him to level 20, when you get to this area or this area do this, this will get you your first point. Go on ahead and access this area. Now you have to get these weapons, they will be located here, these weapons will get you another 3 points. etc. etc."

But instead all these guides are broken down into a language I don't understand, take this for example "The last few points can be easily bought. You will need 1 oppressor weapon, 3 destroyer weapon, and 1 torment weapon to add to your Hall of Monument." like okay... what?o.O

Anyways what I'm saying if someone has an easy understandable guide that walks you on what to do to get 30 points in the HOM, I'll greatly appreciate it.

It's not that they're not understandable, its just that they're made for players that have some, background knowledge, if you will, on the game. If you want to get 30 points for your HoM, I'd tell you to start of on Nightfall, level up your heroes whilst playing all 3 campaigns, then beat EoTN. Then re do it in HM. Once you've done that, you'll have some points you're going to have gathered other points indirectly. Once you've done that, you'll probably gonna have learned all about terms, weapons, maps, missions, ect and will understand all the guides you dont understand quite yet. Any specific question catch me up in game bro. Fi Ru is the IGN.

If you don't understand what "oppressor weapon" means, just type it in the GW Wiki search bar and you will find all the information you need. The same goes for everything else really.

You're mistaking HOM guides for a game guide. That's not the intention, at all. They're intended for people who have actually played GW and know what is going on and where to find information.

That is because they are guides, not walkthroughs.

They tell you what is required of you to get the points you need. You still have to make some effort on your part to look up what it means and find out some info yourself. It won't hold your hand and tell you every little detail you need without any work.

Instead of expecting it to tell you everything, do a little research yourself and you can easily find out where it is and how to tame it. The wiki provides all the information you need (obviously you're not shy about using an outside source to get the info, or else you wouldn't be looking at a HoM guide).

Again, it's a guide not a walkthrough. It seems you want someone to tell you everything and not put any effort in yourself to find the information you need. It is not hard to look up what you need to know and it is a good learning experience as well for yourself, instead of having someone just tell you step by step exactly what you have to do.

The reason there aren't any guides (or at least any that the community finds useful) like you're asking for is because there are many ways and many routes to getting 30/50 points in a HoM. Saying "Make X profession, then do these missions, then go here and farm this" isn't going to suit all players and playstyles. A lot of people may hate playing the profession of choice, or they may not have the personal skill to do certain quests or farms.

A guide that took people step by step through all the possible routes would be incredibly long and unwieldy, branching in many directions to cover the many variables.

As Schmerdro and enter_the_zone say, when you're confused, turn to wiki. We have the most comprehensive, intuitive wikis of any game I've played. Read the articles and follow their related links. Research and cross-referencing is how you understand the guide. And if that's too overwhelming for you at first, just kick back and enjoy the game for a while until you organically understand things a bit better. You still have time.

I can see how frustrating it can be if you're quickly jumping into GW only for the HoM stuff.

Like others have said though, a perfectly 100% detailed guide would be incredibly long to write up.

Best suggestion I can give to new players is to complete all the storyline missions and bonus on NORMAL for all 4 campaigns at first to grasp the core concept of the game.

After that, slowly check the wiki for the other stuff one at a time.

1. You dont need to complete a campaign to get to eotn - eotn`s access is set for level 10 and depending on which campaign you are on the npc for access will be different but la , kamadan and kaineng are the access points and being lvl 10 upwards and entering there you will get a message to speak to xxxx to go to eotn.
2. Working on Hom can be done while you progress thru the game - heros you will pick up enroute , some of the elite areas eg sorrows furnace can be reached fairly easily but sorrows is easiest as the rest require both ascension and a lvl 20 chr and often set builds and is best left till you have done a campaign or 2 ( better range of skills ) also it saves on the entry cost (1k usually ) for fow/uw . Yes you could rush straight in but then if you die at start and being no res shrines in those 2 places you will get kicked from them and lost 1k which if you are a newish player it gets costly.

That's simply because you should beat the campaigns first, basing on the wiki if you have any trouble, and only then read any HoM guides once you get that in-game knowledge and experience.

Because the entire game isn't based around the hall of monuments, trying playing it first.

Okay we're going to beat the three campaigns but one more question, say we started a character on nightfall and beat the campaign, is there any way we can use that character to do the prophecies and factions campaigns or will we be required to start another character.

They're all connected in a wonderfully huge world. You'll discover there are ways to travel between the chapters.

You can travel to Prophecies and Factions from Nightfall as soon as you reach Consulate Docks (so basically at the end of your newbie tutorial). You'd come into those campaigns after their tutorial areas, so if you wanted to do their early missions for your Protector/Guardian tracks, you'd have to run back.

But thanks to campaign travel, you can campaign hop as it pleases you -- you're not restricted to finishing your home campaign before you can explore the others.
